forget it, just open the qc_driver.c file and comment out // the offending lines 1127 1140 1182 1188

but I get a test error similar to the above

qcset: ioctl VIDIOCGCHAN (Invalid argument)

and
ERROR: from element /GstPipeline:pipeline0/GstV4lSrc:v4lsrc0: Could not get/set settings from/on resource.

after sudo gst-launch-0.10 v4lsrc device=/dev/video0 ! ffmpegcolorspace ! ximagesink

for making appends to a file use this

sudo echo “blacklist quickcam_messenger” >> /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf

The driver is outdated for the 2.6.30+ kernel AND V4L2 there are 2 structs that are coded but have been removed from deps.

The developer must issue new code or patch!!!

Hi! I’ve followed all the steps.
If i run gstreamer-proprierties i can see my qc working good with v4lsrc device=”/dev/video1″ but when i run skype from script i got this “Skype Video Capture: Cannot open device ‘/dev/video0′”

it seems this procedure works for many Quickcams except the one the tutorial was wrote for (046d:08f0) …
I’ve tried to install this cam in Jaunty (2.6.28-15-generic kernel) and got the same pipeline problem mentioned by M.D. and Schnee.
